Walton Firs Activity Centre is an Approved Activity Provider for The Duke of Edinburgh's Award. Our Gold Residential Programme offers 24 places to young people aged between 16-24. Most participants will be existing DofE Gold Award participants, but we’re happy to accept people who are not current Award participants too!
The residential programme is one of five sections of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Gold Programme. To meet the requirements of the Award, participants will spend five consecutive days and four nights away from home. As a result of the programme, participants will develop their self-confidence, communication, team-work and resilience skills.
You’ll be staying in one of our on-site residential accommodation buildings, and participate in a range of our specialist outdoor learning programmes, using our high-ropes, bushcraft, and team-building facilities. Participants can choose between the ‘Adventure & Activity’ or ‘Volunteering & Activity’ programmes. Activity centre staff will support participants in how to engage and work alongside other young people on these activities, but also in general life throughout the week. Within the programme, participants will meet new people, learn how to work effectively as a team, plan and prepare meals together, and share informal social time together. We guarantee you a fun-filled and exciting experience!
We’re offering the programme at a price per participant of £395 for the Adventure & Activity programme, and £240 for the Volunteering & Activity programme. Prices include accommodation, activities, catering, and insurance.
