BACKWOODS COOKING

Instructed Activity

Minimum age: 7 years

Session length: 55 mins

Group size (max): 12 participants

Recommended clothing: closed toe shoes, long hair tied back, no loose clothing (scarves, jewellery etc.)

This session is a great way to get your group involved in a messy, fun filled activity that ends with a little snack to keep them going from lunch until dinner. It's a chance to learn just how simple it is to cook something on an open fire that will help keep hunger away in a survival situation.

As part of the session we will teach your group the basics of food hygiene and resource gathering in the wild. You will create your own dough that can be kept plain or can have raisins or chocolate chips added. There will also be the opportunity to create a Nettle Tea to have alongside your cooked flatbread.

All utensils and equipment are included so there is no need to bring your own camp plate and mug. We ask that each group completes a dietary information form (gluten free and other dietary options are available). All our instructors hold a level 2 Food Hygiene certificate for this session. This a great activity for all age groups that mixes well with our Fire Lighting session.

Our sessions are delivered in safe and controlled environments designed for bushcraft exploration. Please note that while our bushcraft area is not for general use, you are more than welcome to use the resources you find elsewhere on site to run your own bushcraft sessions.
