Derek Pollard
Derek Pollard was born in Surrey and has lived there most of his life. As a Scout he used Walton Firs and did odd weekends on the Service Crew. Derek was County Commissioner for Surrey Scouts and Chief Commissioner for England. He is now a Vice-President of Surrey Scout Council, Chairman of the World Scout Constitutions Committee and a board member of the World Scout Foundation both in Geneva. He is involved with other charities in Surrey, particularly Surrey Lifelong Learning Partnership and Go Godalming.
Professionally Derek was a research scientist and university officer. He was Chairman of the UK Council of Validating Universities before retiring as Director of Validation Services with the Open University. He is Chairman of the Academic Governors for Richmond American International University.
Derek is Chairman of The Friends of Walton Firs and a Director of the Walton Firs Foundation with which he has been involved from its inception.
