Official Opening of the Patience Baden-Powell Centre
After months of fundraising, planning and persevering the Patience Baden-Powell Centre building was officially opened on sunday 24th June 2012 by Lord Baden-Powell assisted by two Scouts and two Guides. The event brought togther a large number of friends old and new and many old aquaintances were renewed.
We were called to order by the Brass section of the Kingston & Malden Scout & Guide Band who played from the top of the climbing tower. Derek Pollard, Chairman of the Friends of Walton Firs welcomed us all and Lord Baden-Powell spoke of the enthusiasm and high regard his late wife, Patience, Lady Baden-Powell, had for Walton Firs.
With the fanfare played and the ribbon cut, visitors were shown round the new building which will be a hub for Walton Firs and a first point of contact for those booking in. Our new Training Room can accommodate small meetings and training sessions and can be booked through warden@waltonfirs.co.uk for a small fee.
