The Management Organisation for Walton Firs after the purchase of the site in the summer of 2008 is in the process of being organised.
The proposition of a formal management agreement for Walton Firs with Surrey Scouts has not received a positive acceptance by the Surrey County Scout Executive. It has, therefore, now been agreed that the future management and organisation will be put together by the Foundation in conjunction with Surrey Scouts and with those Scout districts surrounding Walton Firs who have provided much support to assist with the fund raising for the purchase of Walton Firs.
We are also seeking to secure input and support from other user youth organisations and specialist advisers to ensure that Walton Firs provides all of the facilities and opportunities for outdoor activities that are desired and appropriately provided.
The objective remains to ensure that the continuity of operation is maintained and we are pleased to confirm that the present wardens, Sue and Dave McIntosh, have indicated that they are prepared to stay on to manage the site after purchase and will retain a role as an Assistant County Commissioner in Surrey.
We intend to maintain the Scouting ethos in the organisation of the site which will be operated in conjunction with much input from Scouting districts and from Surrey Scouts, together with other supporters and users of Walton Firs who will help with expertise and time to contribute to the many aspects which need to be dealt with in the organisation of a facility such as Walton Firs.
