Overcome personal hurdles

Down at Walton Firs on the first cabin camp, for which I had responsibility, I had one young man who did not want to go abseiling. I did not tell him he had to...but my body language did not encourage him to stay down! He succeeded, but did not even smile at me afterwards.

Five days later I gave his mother a photograph of him leaning away from the top of the tower, suspended only by the rope. She was very pleased and related just how elated he was to have overcome such a mental obstacle.

Just one of many young people who have benefitted from the Walton Firs experience.
