Patrons DayOn Sunday 7 May the founding group of Patrons for the appeal to raise £800,000 to purchase Walton Firs Campsite and Activity Centre for all young people in Surrey met on site.
The Patrons present were Lady Baden-Powell as Founding Patron; Mrs Sarah Goad, The Lord Lieutenant and Tim Goad; Adrian White, High Sheriff and Mrs Gill White; Ian Taylor MP for Esher and Walton and Mrs Taylor; Andrew Crisp, Surrey County Council Executive member; and Rex Rothwell Jackson, ex-Chairman of Bedfordshire County Scout Council. Mick Smith from Ewell presented the first major donation of £50,000 towards the appeal. Lady Baden-Powell, The County Commissioner for Surrey Richard Shortman, Rob Woolford on behalf of the Foundation and The Wardens Dave and Sue McIntosh explained the plans for the site. 07-05-2006 - more news... |
