Newsletter Number 13 June 2008This will be the shortest newsletter distributed to all of the supporters of Walton Firs and the team who have ensured that we achieve success in completing the purchase, and where we are now scheduled to complete the acquisition on Friday 27th June. All of the arrangements are in place. Of the £800,000 required to acquire the property and meet costs and initial expenses we are very close to having raised £750,000.
Arrangements are in place to borrow the balance of £50,000 and the completion of the purchase is therefore certain.
We are however hoping that we can reduce this gap sufficiently to ensure that we can secure a short term non secured borrowing on the property, which will also save us additional costs in the registration of a charge and clearing the charge once the final amount is paid off.
We have therefore a little over 3 weeks to find as much as we can of the balance.
This means a target of £2,000 a day and I am pleased to say that today we received a donation from a Charity from Wotton in Surrey for exactly that amount.
If we all put our final thinking caps on as to whom else we might ask to support us, the final balance of £50,000 may be much reduced.
This is of course not the final effort since after purchase we will still need to find the difference, but the more we can find this month the more certain it will be that we can further reduce our cost by putting in place an informal borrowing for the balance. Please do your best in June and let us see what happens.
The next newsletter will be one which covers the administration and organisation of Walton Firs and issues relating to the day to day news of what is happening. After the end of June we will put in place this whole new information flow within a newsletter which will hopefully ensure that the support and interest in Walton Firs is maintained.
Please make one last effort in June to complete our money raising phase to acquire Walton Firs.
We look forward to seeing those of you who can make it at the 4th July Denbies dinner.
